Overview

Babawa is a slow tank that works best at outputting heavy Nature-type damage. Babawa's high attack stat lets it stretch Water Cutting Lily's high base power further, and its huge stamina stat lets it shrug off the technique's high stamina cost. However, Babawa's low speed lets many Tems outspeed it even when it uses a priority move, its base special defense is lacking, and its 4x Toxic weakness lets any Toxic-type threaten it. Beyond the crippling Toxic weakness, its typing provides two 4x resistances and its trait Mucous provides a partial-resist to Electric, meaning Babawa can still swap in to take hits when piloted well.

Babawa strikes an interesting balance between a hard hitter and a useful support. It really can't accomplish too much against Toxic types, but can take buffs and give healing as well as being a strong damage dealer.

Babawa's bread and butter is Water-Cutting Lily, a strong turn 1 physical nature attack that utilizes Babawa's high attack and stamina. The reduction is speed from the move's nerf in Arbury doesn't phase Babawa as much, who doesn't mind Perfect Jab going before it does. This set runs a lot of physical attack investment, so Aqua Stone is selected to deal water damage. On bulkier sets, you may prefer Aquatic Whirlwind for the high damage and priority. Drool and Revitalize help Babawa support itself and allies with a lot of healing.

Tems that can leverage Babawa's Nature and Water typings for synergy, like Mastione, Cerneaf, Mimit, and Hazrat, make good partners. Tems that do well into toxics, like Tulcan with Bait or Barnshe with Neutrality, are also good teammates.
